Case Study!
this is the Wind Turbine. Designed by Philippe Starck!!
this is a Wall Mirror, Babykake, 2007. Designed by Karim Rashid!!!
Wall leaning mirror with two containers hidden by shaped doors. I think the design is simple but classic. It looks more slimmer compared to other wall mirror which are available in the market. i think its inspired by the hour glass??? haha.

am i on track???
environment chosen: House, Kitchen? ( still not confirm-i want to research more for more innovative problems!!!)
target user: Senior citizen!!( i am really confident with this)
for a start, i have actually made an observation on my grandmother and mother doing their laundry. many problems i have discovered. (more explicit details on journal!! plus pictures!!) but the key main point is here, i need to do more research on senior citizens. Just now during D&T lesson, mr Fiz actually bring up the point of Singapore's ageing population. i am sure that there are many ways for me to go... so i need to..:
- DO MORE RESEARCH ON SENIOR CITIZENS!!
=>what they need? are they staying with family or alone? do they need help if they are alone? what problems do they encounter when they staying alone... ARE THEY INDEPENDANT??
- ELABORATE MORE ON MY CURRENT SITUATION!!
=> i need to explain more detail on the problem, maybe more innovative problems? or just a simple ideaa that suddenly pop-up in mind??
- DRAW UP ANY ITCHING IDEAS!!
=> there is no wrong to draw out whats itching in my mind now!!
-DO A SURVEY??
=> currently asking friends about their grandparents. what they( senior citizens) need? are they living comfortable? are they able to live independantly? what problems do they encounter..
i think thats all that i can think.(if there's more i will put it on my design journal) :)

Assignment 3!
Case study on a non-profitable organisation.
I am doing a case study on NKF or National Kidney Foundation.
It organise cost-effective and comprehensive education and health-screening programmes against kidney-related disease for the community. They also provide dialysis treatment for the patients. Currently I am not involved in the activities that they have organised, but I will gladly help out if I have a chance. More over, my grandmother is also a dialysis patient, and I found out that some of activities, they need a lot of manpower as mostly of the patients are old and need a lot of attention and care.
Immediate needs that I can think of now to help this organisation is something that can help this dialysis patients after their treatment. From my own experience with my grandmother, usually after a dialysis treatment, the patient will feel very giddy and if there is no one beside them to hold them, they may fall. As for my grandmother she was accompanied by my grandfather so there is no much of worry but what if there is other patient who have no accompany or they need to use the toilet and no one is helping them.
Another need that I can think of is when patients have to eat their medication. This will not only apply for the dialysis patients but for others too. Right now the pharmacy are selling a box which have compartments for different timing for the day like M for morning. A for afternoon and N for night. But my concern need here is what if the patient has poor eyesight, especially for aged people.
there you go.. the case study on NKF. I hope its fine. :)
What's Next??

Needs:
-Something which is easy-to-use for aged people.

Assignment 1~ Done!
Assignment 1~
week one!
Research on theme first! Find out what is about and find the problems that are REALISTIC! If there’s any itchy ideas in mind should just draw it out!
Week two!
Research more on the problems. Lay out the problems. Then, try giving a rough idea of each problems. Maybe I can compare which problems are realistic to be solved! This will help me to decide which problem I want to do on. More research will be done if needed. Week three-four!
Here I will decide which problem I should be doing on. Then I will research more on the problem such as the need, the user and the environment. Like with the help of PIES~ physical, individual, environment and social need! We can have picture analysis of the problem.
Week five!
Will do a pesona profile of the user. This will help on trying to find more of the needs.
Week six-seven make sure on the track and not off the right track. This week will decide the design brief and specifications.!
